At Delaware Learning Academy, we are dedicated to providing a safe, friendly, nurturing environment for your child. Each DLA classroom is designed to facilitate the growth and development of your child’s specific age group. The DLA team of professionals are chosen for their dedication to quality childcare and nurturing personalities. In addition to love and attention, we will provide your child with hours of developmental play, designed to target and enhance their physical, emotional and social skills.
Our classrooms have been designed to provide a warm, inviting atmosphere while emphasizing learning through play. Each classroom is set up with an educational learning wall and separate learning centers to help introduce math, reading, art, small and large motor skills, as well as social development.
Early Learning Programs
Infant: 6 months – 1 year
Our nursery will provide a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for your infant. When your child begins at Delaware Learning Academy, you and your baby’s primary caregiver will establish a personalized care plan. This will help us tailor a schedule to fit your baby’s individual needs. Chosen for their nurturing personalities, our caregivers interact with your baby throughout the day as they feed, diaper, play, and comfort them. They will sing them songs, read them stories, and encourage them to reach, grasp, crawl, and respond to vocalizations. A ratio of one to four allows our experienced caregivers to give your baby plenty of attention and the very best infant care. Daily communications between parents and caregivers are an essential part of our quality care standards.
Toddler: One Year
Your one-year-old is ready to experiment with his or her independence. He/She can now walk, talk, feed themself, and go after what he/she wants. Your toddler needs lots of things to explore and will begin to follow a simply structured day in a fun, flexible environment. Their day will consist of:
- Small group storytime
- Group snack, lunch, and nap times
- Music and creative movement
- Morning and afternoon play outdoors
- Independent exploration
- Simple hands-on arts and crafts
- Sensory activities
- Language development
They will learn, grow and explore in a safe, age-appropriate setting until they reach the fun age of two and they’re now ready to conquer the toddler world.
Toddler: Two Years
Your two year old will be exposed to a variety of stimuli to encourage intellectual, social, physical and emotional growth. The program is designed to allow children to explore independently as well as be a part of structured activities in both large and small group experiences including:
- Small group story time
- Group snack, lunch and nap times
- Music and creative movement
- Morning and afternoon play outdoors
- Independent exploration
- Simple hands-on arts and crafts
- Sensory activities
- Language development
They will learn, grow and explore in a safe, age-appropriate setting until they reach the fun age of three and they’re now ready to conquer the toddler world.
Preschool: Ages 3-4 Years
Kindergarten readiness is the focus of our preschool program. Available to three and four-year-olds, the Delaware Learning Academy preschool program follows local guidelines for kindergarten preparedness.
As with all our programs, in the preschool classroom, we work to create an excitement for learning while building each child’s confidence. This age is all about expression when kids really start to form their own ideas about what they want to play with and how they want to create. The curriculum introduces the basic skills and concepts reflected in local and national standards.
Children’s books inspire the themes that make learning fun for preschoolers. Children learn scientific methods as they observe and research the life cycles of plants and animals.
School Age: 5-13 Years
Our program is designed to meet the demands of this challenging age group! School-age children need a safe, friendly, and flexible place to go to after school. Our Youth Center at Delaware Learning Academy provides age-appropriate space and activities for kids who are no longer preschoolers. Kids are given opportunities to make choices as often as possible.
We provide care for all school delays and early dismissals as well as school holidays. DLA will offer all school-agers an afternoon snack as well as ample outdoor or gym time, quiet homework or reading time, crafting, and gaming.
Summer Camp
Summer Camp at Delaware Learning Academy is a structured day camp providing a daily dose of teacher-directed activities, including cooperative games, arts and crafts, and indoor and outdoor team sports. Each day includes time for free play and individual expression. Let your children make the most of their summertime.
